IN THE GARDEN EASTER ANGEL
A beautiful patchwork of diamond shapes inset with hearts and lilies adorn the skirt of this majestic angel. The front of her gown shows Christ praying in the Garden of Gethsemane and the scripture reference Luke 22:42 adorns the hem. The verse is printed on the bottom of the figurine, "Father, if You are willing, take this cup away from Me: still, not My will but Yours be done."
To capture the distressed look of a hand carved wood figurine, Jim Shore designs many of his pieces with vertical fissures that resemble cracks in dried wood. One such feature can be seen in the sky above Christ's head on the front of the gown. This is not a flaw but a design detail intended to give the piece an authentic aged wood appeal.
