Decorated Easter Cookies

For those of you looking forward to Easter time, the one thing that makes Easter incredibly special are decorated Easter cookies. Just like Christmas cookies have become a staple of Christmas time, so have Easter cookies become a part of Easter tradition. There are many great ways to adorn the Easter season and decorated Easter cookies are just one of them. Here are some tips on putting smiles on the faces of your children or friends this Easter season.

Decorated Easter Cookies Come in Many Shapes and Sizes

Decorated Easter cookies can come in many shapes and sizes and if you can conceptualize it you can truly prepare it. For most people Easter is associated with bunnies, rabbits, chicks, lambs and Easter eggs. For the most part you can usually find most of these shapes and more in the form of cookie cutters.

Cookie cutters are usually easy to purchase at all discount shops, supermarkets, and craft shops. Or you can generally make them yourself- you just need some pliable metal and an idea. If you don't have a cookie cutter, no big deal. In fact a lot of people that are artistically gifted choose to cut their own shapes out of cookie dough by hand, without using any cookie cutter.

Decorated Easter Cookies Start Out with Delectable Cookie Dough

The most essential thing about the embellished Easter cookies that you create is that must taste just as great as they look. No one likes a nasty tasting cookie. For many chefs, a great cookie begins with delicious cookie dough. Yes, you can purchase the dough already pre-made and ready to cut, but for the purists out there, start with a family recipe that is either chocolate chip or of the sugar cookie variety.

Decorate Your Cookie Using the Tools of the Trade

It's easy to adorn your Easter cookies, just make sure you have all the accessories of the trade. They usually include, food coloring, colored icing, sprinkles, delicious candies such as licorice, M& M's, nuts, marshmallows, etc. Once you have gotten the cookie shape, let yourself or your kids use their creative magic to make cutely decorated Easter cookies. You can find food coloring and many cool decorating accessories at your local grocery store. You can even purchase pre-made Easter embellishments to add to your cookies, cakes or Easter eggs.

Presentation is Key

Once your newly designed Easter cookies are finished, make sure to show them off to the rest of the family and even give them away to your coworkers and friends. Savor the Easter spirit by showcasing your delicious and beautiful decorated Easter cookies.

One creative idea is to take some photographs of your adorned Easter cookies and include them in your annual Easter scrapbook, so you can always look back at the delicious and beautifully adorned Easter cookies that you have made.

You can also print the cookie recipe on an attractive recipe card and include a photo of your Easter cookies to give to family and friends. Most everyone appreciates handmade gifts, especially when it's a beloved family recipe.

If you are looking to magnify your gratification of Easter this year, take part in creating wonderfully decorated Easter cookies.

4 Tips For Christmas Decorating on a Budget

Love to celebrate Christmas? If you're like me and millions of others, you answered with an emphatic "Yes!" In fact, Christmas just might be your favorite holiday. And you can still celebrate and decorate your home in style even if you're on a tight budget.

The first tip for decorating within a budget is to set priorities on which rooms will definitely get decorated. You may not be able to lavish every room with holiday décor. Focus on those rooms you spend the most time in. And on the rooms your guests are most likely to see.

The second tip to saving money on your Christmas decorations is to plan. Yes; make a list and check it twice before you head out for any shopping. This helps eliminate - or at least minimize - impulse buying. It helps keep you from grabbing any and every cool thing you see.

How? When you have a list with a budgeted amount for each item (your best guess on what it will cost or how much you can afford to spend on each), then you're less likely to impulse buy. This is because for each impulse purchase you can see what other item has to get crossed off your list.

Remember, you only have a set amount to spend. This means if you add something that wasn't on your list... then you have to eliminate an item that originally was on your list. This keeps your budget in control.

This also means you'll have a more joyful Christmas because you don't have stress from overspending.

The third tip for sticking within your decorating budget is one I've already alluded to. Once you start shopping for decorations, don't go overboard. Don't exceed your budget. Stick with what's on your list and stay within the budgeted amount for each item on your list.

I know this is all simple advice; but that doesn't make it any less effective!

Remember your overall goal of saving money and staying within your budget. And here's another thought that may not only give you more discipline, but also make you feel good as you say "No" to extra stuff or expensive decorations: You'll have more money available for gifts or a nice Christmas dinner.

This leads to the fourth tip: Choose carefully WHERE you shop and WHEN you shop. Keep an eye out for sales. And don't hesitate to ask two or three sales people in each store about upcoming sales. Sometimes they're very nice about letting you know that in a few more days a big sale - maybe not even advertised yet - is happening. You'll get more "bang for your buck" shopping the sales.

It used to be Christmas decorations only went on sale after Christmas. Then the sales started hitting one or two days before Christmas. Check around because they keep hitting earlier and earlier each year. And this year with the economy it is likely retailers will be doing anything they can to stimulate sales.

Now as to WHERE to shop: Don't overlook your local dollar store. You just might be pleasantly surprised at what you can find in there! And the price is certainly right.

Depending on the dollar store you choose to shop at, you should be able to walk away with Christmas pictures, Christmas wall hangings for kids, Christmas tree decorations, Christmas lights, boxes that look like wrapped gifts you can place here and there for color, candy dishes, candles, and even Christmas potholders or towels for your kitchen.

Next check out the discount stores and price-club stores. While the prices at these stores vary, you should be able to find very nice decorations for five to maybe ten dollars each. Of course, there will always be items that cost more, but you'll have plenty of low-cost items to choose from that will bring lovely holiday cheer to your home.

One other idea regarding where to shop: Online auction websites (e.g., e-Bay), offer specialty decorations. Granted, they may be used but you just might end up with something quite special that you couldn't possibly afford to buy brand new. And by examining the items carefully during the auction, you could walk away with lovely Christmas decorations that are slightly used, but look new.

Even on a tight budget your home can still be festive and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Just remember to:

Choose which rooms you will decorate
Make a list of what you want to get and how much you have budgeted for each item. If you have no idea what you'll be getting, then set a budget for each room.
Stop buying when you hit the limit. Remember you'll have more money for gifts and a nice dinner if you don't overspend. And you really will enjoy the holiday more because you won't have the stress or fear of wondering how you'll pay the bills after the first of the year.
Watch for sales and take advantage of them. Also focus your shopping on dollar stores, some party outlet supply stores, and discount stores for the best deals. Merry Christmas!

Tea Party Ideas For a Child's Easter Tea Party

Tea party ideas work for every holiday. Lets think about using tea party ideas to make a fun filled children's Easter tea party.

My ideas include inviting a few of my daughters small friends and making the theme an Easter egg hunt. Living in a warm climate means the kids can search outdoors for their eggs and treasures. If you live in a colder climate have the Easter party hunt in one room like your family or game room. Coloring the eggs is something my daughter and I can enjoy doing together. She likes to help the Easter bunny with his job of dying eggs. If you'd like to have a party like this make sure to leave the eggs in a safe cold place for the bunny to find when he stops at your house. Leave him a note mentioning the egg hunt and he'll do the rest.

The bunny will no doubt find good places in your yard to hide the eggs, one here a couple there in the grass or a bed of flowers. If your area doesn't have spring flowers blooming yet you may want to buy some potted plants. Nestle an egg or two in among the leaves or put straw grass in the pots to hide the eggs. Lay the eggs or other goodies in the crooke of a tree branch or bush, under seat cushions on your deck or on the ledge of a windowsill. Allow some of the prizes to peak out of their hiding places so the younger ones have the best chance of being successful. Give each child a small basket to put their treasures in as a party favor to take home and enjoy. Make sure to have extra goodies on hand in case some of the children have no luck finding the eggs.

Provide a tea that is both healthy and good tasting. Rooibos tea comes from the African Red Bush and is not a true tea. It has even more antioxidants (think healthy) than a true tea. Your youthful guests won't know or care, but their mom's may not want their children to have caffeine which is in true tea. I personally have had the pleasure of drinking tea and iced teas since my childhood with no ill effects. You may decide to offer two teas, a rooibos and a true tea. Children usually like flavors like vanilla rooibos or blueberry black tea.

They will feel very grown up if you use small china tea sets and set your table with pretty dishes and flowers for a centerpiece. Thinking healthy again you may want to offer good snacks like carrot sticks and dip or a variety of cheese cubes with crackers. Fresh fruit cut into smaller pieces for tiny hands are a good idea too. A tea party requires tea party ideas for finger sandwiches. Most children love peanut butter and jelly, but make sure to ask all the mom's if their children are allergic to peanuts before adding them to you menu. Egg salad is always a good tea sandwich filling that is healthy too. Use a cookie cutter in the shape of an Easter egg or after cutting off all the crusts cut the sandwiches in thirds.

After you Easter hunt and lite tea meal have the children participate in an activity. Bake cut out sugar cookies using a tea pot cookie cutter before the party, and have the children decorate them with frosting and sprinkles. This may be a bit messy so provide plastic aprons to cover the children's cloths and supervise closely. They may like a little help and you may need an extra adult or two to supervise. Their creations can serve as dessert. Be sure to have the kids wash their hands and faces before sending them home to mom.

Use tea party ideas to make memories for the little ones in your family.

How to Choose a Safe Kid's Angel Costume For Your Little Angel - Tips From an Expert Designer

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There is a great variety of costumes available having as main theme the Angel.Kids angel costumes are usually sweet little outfits especially designed for the smallest baby to be worn comfortably. Mothers are those special beings who take care of the image of their little one for special occasions. This is why there are some important things you need to be careful about when you buy these angelic outfits.

Because it is a smaller child who will wear it, you should check that there are as few pieces that children could hurt themselves with as possible. For example, some designers might use wire like materials in order to give shape to the wings, to the bottom of the dress, etc. You do not need to worry about your toddler being able to unfold the wings and play around with sharp edged materials.

Kids angel costumes should be designed in a natural manner, without too many accessories that could actually be harmful in some way. Little children's curiosity and imagination has no borders, and you know this as a parent, this is why you should watch out for this probability.

In addition, this is the exact reason why mums are not really encouraged to design themselves kids angel costumes. You cannot make those wings be as stable as you would like to, plus you may not even be satisfied with the general outcome of such a costume.

Skilled designers however, who do this for a living, know exactly what the needs of a toddler are, what materials can they comfortably wear and so on. So, you are strongly advised to always buy angel costumes made by skillful designers, which you can buy in stores.

Moreover, children are impatient, constantly moving, running around, and climbing everything that comes in their way, curious, trying to discover every mystery, so their costumes should be also made of durable materials.

Kids angel costumes can be found under a great variety, so there is one suitable for every taste and need. Sometimes, also colored angel outfits are available, but according to the fairy records everywhere in magical land, angels are pure white with a touch of sparkle. Use sparingly safe hairpins, small broaches (you can use plastic ones!) or even a nice little angelic bracelet in order to add that sparkle to your little angel's image.

Now, you are ready to present the most beautiful angel to all your Christmas dinner guests and family!

Make This Year's Holiday Party a Potluck

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Every year I look forward to my Christmas luncheon. Planning it took weeks and I did not mind. As usual, the luncheon would be at my house. This year, however, with a diagnosis of high blood pressure, the planning seemed more difficult. I mentioned this to a friend.

"Make it a potluck," she suggested.

"That's a great idea!" I exclaimed, and started working on it immediately.

Vanessa Graves offers tips for hosting a potluck in her All Recipes website article, "Party Planning 1o1." Whether the group is large or small, Grave says the planning steps are the same. Seeing the big picture is the first step. "A great party takes on a life of its own," she notes.

According to Graves, invitations should be sent out a week ahead of time. But my friends are so busy I contacted them a month ahead of time. I sent emails to 13 people, saying the luncheon would be potluck and suggesting a date. "The menu is simple," I wrote. "Appetizers, soup, bread, salad, and dessert." Each guest was assigned a category.

Guests were asked to rsvp and two were unable to come. In their replies, most of my friends told me what they planned to make. Their email replies morphed into a complete menu:

Hungarian Mushroom Soup
Minnesota Wild Rice Soup
Homemade bread
Bibb Lettuce Salad with Sliced Pears, Walnuts, and Blue Cheese
Swedish Creme with Raspberries
Irish Oatmeal Cake
Fudgy Brownies
Wine, Coffee and Tea

I would supply punch, salad, Swedish Creme, dessert plates, napkins, decorations, and favors. Years ago, I wrote an all-purpose luncheon invitation, so it was easy for me to change luncheon to potluck, insert the date, and confirm the dish each friend was bringing.

Donna Pilato tells how to plan a potluck in her article, "Potluck Parties: It May Sound Old-Fashioned, but it Fits Our Modern Lifestyle." To avoid duplicate dishes, she tells the host or hostess to plan the menu. The food doesn't need to be fancy, Pilato adds, but it should be prepared in advance. "Nobody should do more in the kitchen than pop something in the oven for reheating."

Modern potlucks often have a theme or focus, such as a book, knitting, or board business. Entertainment may also be provided. But my friends and I know each other well and we entertain ourselves. Over the years, we have cried together, laughed together, and supported each other during crisis.

Though potlucks sound "ify," they are organized and vibrant gatherings. Sara Elliott, in her article, "How to Host a Holiday Potluck," thinks this form of entertaining can showcase cooking prowess and hospitality. Make sure you have enough chairs and silverware, she advises, and check last minute details. Potlucks "give us an opportunity to share time and the bounty of good food with friends and relatives in a way that doesn't overburden one person or family," notes Elliott.

The potluck luncheon is Thursday and we're going to have a marvelous, laughter-filled time.

Are You Stuck For Decorating Styles For Special Occasions?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

A lot of people love nothing more than to keep their house prim and proper and to keep the decorating of the house up to standard. It seems that people are spending more and more each year decorating their homes in order to make them look as good as possible. Decorating the house is one thing but then there are special occasions or festive periods where people like to add extra decorations to their house in order to get into the spirit of the occasion.

Are You Stuck For Ideas Over Halloween Or Any Other Occasions?

Halloween comes once a year and no matter how much you try to run away from the fact - it happens. A lot of people see it has harmless fun and they like to join in by decorating their house and even hosting Halloween parties. To do this, they turn their house into a Halloween spectacular using pumpkins, broomsticks and anything that is remotely to do with Halloween.

A lot of people like to be the best so they spend a fortune on trying to make their display as great as possible. There is no set ways for how to decorate your house over Halloween so it is all down to how big your budget is and what your personal tastes are.

Other occasions where people decorate their houses especially for include thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. As well as the national holidays, people like to add extra decorations for birthdays, anniversaries and even Valentines Day to show loved ones that they care.

What Should You Consider When Decorating For Special Occasions?

It depends on the occasion when it comes to decorating your home. If it is someones birthday, you will want to decorate it to help them celebrate their day in fashion. Using confetti, banners, balloons and maybe using spray paint can help to add style.

For an anniversary or romantic special occasion, this will need to be a bit more thought out. It could involve painting a room or adding extra features to help make it more romantic. If you do paint a certain room, make sure it is something that the other person would like if it is being done as a surprise. Otherwise it could make the day not as special as you would have liked it to have been.

It is all a matter of personal taste on how to decorate the house, but if you look in decorating magazines or on the internet, it may give you some inspiration.

The Holiday of Halloween

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Halloween on the 31st of October has its roots in Irish tradition. The following day, the 1st of November is the official All Saints' holiday. In the USA, Halloween is the second most popular decoration festival, after Christmas.

Halloween was regarded, by many, as the Celtic New Year. A period when animals were traditionally killed and supplies stored up for the long cold winter ahead. This night was also known as the 'festival of the dead.' The night when the boundary between the living and dead becomes blurred. Some however, believed the dead causes problems for the living, such as sickness or crop damage.

It was originally known as All Hallows Day, the eve of All Saints' Day. The two holidays used to be celebrated on the one day. The name was then shortened to Halloween.

Symbols of Halloween:
The jack-o'-lantern has its origin in the Irish legend of a greedy, gambling, hard-drinking old farmer, named Stingy Jack. He fooled the devil into climbing a tree and trapped him by carving a cross into the tree trunk. In revenge, the devil placed a curse on Jack, condemning him to wander the earth at night for ever. The only light Jack had was a candle which he placed inside a hollowed out turnip.

North America transferred the turnip into the larger and more easily available pumpkin. This was placed on the doorstep so as to ward off superstitions.

From nearly a century of filmmakers we have the imagery of ghosts, witches, owls, crows, vultures, black cats, spiders, goblins, zombies, mummies, skeletons and demons all added to the Halloween paraphernalia.

Trick-n-Treat:
When you went outdoors is was prudent to wear a costume so as to blend in with all the 'spirits' of the night. This eventually evolved into trick-n-treat, where children, knocking on neighbour's doors would ask for sweets, nuts and fruit for the Halloween feast. The children had salt sprinkled in their hair to protect them against the evil spirits powers.

In England and Wales you would either receive a treat of food or money, or you would perform a trick. This often involved such things as removing the gate from its hinges and carrying it away to dump in a local pond. Unfortunately, this has led to antisocial behavior among older teenagers. In 2006 police surveillance of the festival had to be stepped up so as to keep law and order.

The Food:
As Halloween follows at the close of the annual apple harvest, apples also became a symbol of the festivity. Apples which had been rolled in sugar syrup and nuts, making candy apples, were commonly given to the children.

In Ireland it is the time of the King Cake, or barmbrack, which is a light fruit cake baked in a ring in which coin and lucky charms are placed before baking. Anyone getting a ring from the cake will find their true love in the coming year.

UNICEF
In 1950 UNCIEF began a program of distributing small boxes to schools, or through some stores, for the trick-or-treaters. The children were asked to solicit small change donations from the houses they visited.
It is estimated the children have collected in the vicinity of $119 million for UNICEF. Sadly, the program has been canceled in certain parts of the world, due to concern for the safety of the children.

Television
The evening of October 31st is the traditional night to sit and view horror, or ghost movies. Perhaps this year, financial crisis and Wall Street has already provided enough horror stories for this year.

Dippity Do - Fun With Easter Eggs

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Easter is right around the corner and one of the great activities to participate in this and every Easter season is to color Easter eggs. Easter eggs are simple and fun to color; you just need to take note of the following tricks.

Easter eggs most often start with hard boiled eggs, so purchase a dozen or two for coloring. Gently lower them in boiling water for about 10 minutes. The eggs will cook and become hard boiled. Now just let them dry.

The easiest way to color your Easter eggs is to acquire an Easter egg coloring kit. These kits most often include dyes to paint your Easter eggs several colors, templates or stickers to adorn and design them, and an Easter egg holder to easily allow them to dry. Most kits only cost a few dollars and are very practical.

You can also prepare your own colored dye. You can blend about 1 tablespoon of food coloring with a half teaspoon of vinegar, then add about 1/2 cup to a third cup of water. Now just dip your Easter egg into the colored cup of water. The longer your egg sits in the water, usually the deeper and darker the color.

Moreover you can hand paint your Easter eggs. You can find many water color paints or other types of paints to design and decorate your eggs. Even undiluted food coloring generally works. It is important to note that you shouldn't eat any eggs that you have used paint on.

Creating or adorning your egg is fun and simple as well. Once the eggs are hard boiled, you can adhere stickers to the egg, use a brush to finely coat a creative design, or paste construction paper cut outs to your egg. Many people even dress their Easter eggs up with doll or handmade clothing made from cotton or other types of fabrics.

Easy, Last-Minute Halloween Party Decoration Ideas

Creepy Cookies

Cookies as Halloween decorations? Why yes! Most grocery stores sell the batter tubes with Halloween-themed shapes in the centre. These are time-efficient and super easy to bake, so even hosts like me (who are not allowed in the kitchen because of previous fire-related incidents) would be hard-pressed to screw them up. Bake LOTS of these cookies. Place the finished cookies around your home on plates, in baskets or around pumpkin bases as a yummy Halloween décor accent! The next day, wrap the un-eaten cookies in cellophane and give them away at work or to those vendors you see that day (the guy at Starbucks who gets your chai latte just right every time!). While those cookies are baking...

Put out some pumpkins

Pumpkins are a great way to decorate, and are readily available at this time of year. Pick up full-sized pumpkins for your party area or the front steps of your house. Hollow out mini pumpkins for easy taper candle holders. Gut a large pumpkin and place a bowl inside for a festive punch holder. Draw faces on your large pumpkins for a comedic yet spooky effect.

Have a few extra minutes? Hollow out a large pumpkin, but don't chuck the innards. Carve a scowling face with a large, wide-open mouth. Grab those gooey insides and stream out of the mouth. Your pumpkin looks like he has eaten bad sushi, and is a hilarious conversation piece. Estimated time: Ten minutes.

Spike your punch - with food colouring

Use food colouring to turn your bunch black, blood-red, oozy green or any other combination you can create! Float Halloween-shaped ice cubes in the beverage to punch up your punch! Voila! A multi-functional decoration your guests will drink up!

Stage a gory accident

This week, you're not to feel bad about not visiting the recycling depot! Take a pair of pants (denim jeans work the best) and stuff them with plastic bags (or, if you're a dutiful recycler, clothes from your dirty laundry basket). Place the waistband area under a heavy piece of furniture (a couch, trunk or entertainment unit). Place shoes at the end and cover a bit of the shoe with the bottom leg of the pants. You now have a horrific accident that will give your guests a giggle. Ketchup blood is optional. You can take the plastic bags to the recycling depot tomorrow.

Light it up

Purchase coloured light bulbs for an eerie ambiance. Cut bats, ghosts and/or witches out of black construction paper and stick on the inside of lamp shades for creepy decorations that cast spooky shadows!

Ghosts that just hang around

Take a kitchen refuse bag and cut into squares, varying in size. In the middle of each square, place a wad of paper towel or a plastic bag (scrunched up tight). Pull the corners together and tie with an elastic band, ribbon or string. Use a Sharpie to add facial expressions. Instant ghost! Hang on doorknobs, from the ceiling (using string and a thumb tac), stairwell railings, etc.

These tips will ensure a quick and easy decoration fix. And the best part: minimal clean up the next day! Happy Halloween!

How to Design a Treasure Map For Your Children

The initial step must be done with the material of the map. You should take a white paper and then boil it into a pan with tea. Dip it through 5 minutes, and then let it become cold until one minute and do not forget to flip it. To make a realistic one, you may need to separate the paper into some parts and burn the edge, so it will make it sense like a true map.

You can now arrange a strange location with its detail landmarks and enough room. You can try to look for the inspiration through a book or search on the internet. You can also use the modern landmarks when you have difficulties to find the natural one. However, the most important is that you should make the hunting for a real treasure. You need to design the road of treasure so take notes and check for another factor like the general things and the risks for their safety.

You need to make sure the language you want to use on your map that the clues, the notes, and a little side note should be compatible with the era of pirates. You may want to use Avast Matey type, and then you can arrange the direction as zig zagging from the corner to corner of terrain, so it becomes as difficult track as the treasures hunt.

You can insert some picture of a person in black ink and some specific signs of pirates include, booty, swords, crossbones, anchors or compass rose. However, you do also need to hinder giving a lot of clues and features o your map. If there are some fair children, you can arrange it, as they have to cooperate to successfully finish the track and find the treasures.

You should hide the exact place where you have put the wealth on the secret part of your map. Most of the actual wealth should be covered, so your children could not find it when they have returned. You can arrange the treasures to be covered by anything like Easter eggs, after several weeks from the Easter, the children could discover it easily as it has hidden properly.

Thanksgiving Holiday Decorating Tips

Create an exciting and welcoming home for your Thanksgiving festivities.

Five "Welcome to Our Home" Holiday Decorating Tips

1. Door wreaths welcome all to your home and set the stage for celebrating. Make a simple wreath to hang on your front door with Thanksgiving colors--brown, russet, olive green. Use tree branches from your garden; attach a few gourds, nuts, raffia, and ribbons.

2. Place a gorgeous mum by your front door. You can plant it later and get flowers next Thanksgiving to use inside. It just takes one bright spot near your front door to attract the eye of arriving guests.

3. Wrap your front door with gift wrap appropriate to Thanksgiving.

4. Make a "welcome to our home" banner. Add your ribbons, raffia, and fall leaves.

5. Group vines, pumpkins, and mums for display impact near the front entrance. Adjust the vines to add height and movement.

Fall Leaves make great interior and exterior decorations. Be sure to hose off any bugs!

Five Holiday Decorating Tips for Your Home's Interior

1. Display vegetables and mini pumpkins on a tray. Fill in any gaps with fall leaves, moss, raffia, or wheat. If orange clashes with your home's interior, use green apples and spray paint the mini-pumpkins your colors.

2. Tie ribbons and raffia around your candle bases and around your floral arrangements.

3. Set fall-color leaves under your decorations. Safety Tip: Keep leaves separated from melting candle wax.

4. Extend your flower arrangements with fall tree branches. Just one flower package makes a huge impact when you divide and spread it around.

5. Use copper, bronze, and gold spray paint to dress up plain gourds. Fill a glass or crystal bowl with the gourds, oranges, and nuts.

Did I already mention gorgeous red, golden leaves? Here's another way to add fall color: Place the leaves in your green potted-plants.

One beautiful way to kick off your holiday season: Wrap tiny gifts in gold foil; top off with brown and russet ribbons, and place the gifts on the dinner plate. Your table will look fabulous and your guests will love the thought.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Decorating Your Table Anytime

You probably already decorate your table for Thanksgiving Dinner or Christmas Dinner. But there are several ways that you can decorate your table anytime of the year by adding a few simple items that you may already have in your home.

New Years Day can be celebrated by decorating your table with a white table cloth and something that represents good luck and good fortune in which you will be wishing to everyone who sits around your table. This can be something personalized that has brought you luck last year and you want everyone to see. Use a plain white cotton flat sheet for a table cloth. White is bright and can be bleached when stained. Make place card holders by taking a piece of construction paper and cutting it into a triangle shape. Place the name on each card and set at each setting. On the back of the card write your wish to them for the year. This is a personal way of showing how much you care. Have everyone read their card if you like.

Easter is usually a time for new beginnings. It celebrates life and newness that come with the changing of the season. With an Easter table setting, take a pink flat sheet and a blue flat sheet and sew them together. Or you could use a pastel yellow and lavender. Sew them together covering the seam. Take the rest of the sheet that is left over after you sew the table cloth together to make cloth napkins for your guests. Sew a straight seam around your material to make it look professional. Use card stock dyed the color to match your table setting. Write names on each card and on the back write a simple sentence to express how you feel about the season and best wishes to your guests.

Independence Day is a great time for celebration. It signifies the middle of the summer and is meant to be a time of celebration and gathering with those who mean a lot to you. In order to decorate for this holiday, you may celebrate outside with a cook out or you may cook indoors. Either way you can decorate your dining room table or your picnic table with the following decorations. Because this holiday is celebrated with the traditional colors of red, white and blue you need to use this color theme for your party. Use a dark blue or red flat sheet as a table cloth. Use the opposite color for your cloth napkins. Purchase miniature flags at your local store that you can set at everyone's plate. Flag's can be used to put in glasses for drinks or can be used where you lay the silverware.

Thanksgiving requires a basic color of orange, brown or red. Use a basic solid color for your table cloth and decorate cloth napkins with each additional color. Add a Capricorn to the table for decoration as well as having the kids make table cards out of construction cards shaped as a turkey.

For Christmas, you want to use the traditional colors of red, green and white. These colors make the holidays exciting and happy. Use a red or green table cloth and use the opposite color for the cups or wine glasses. Make the napkins white to brighten the table setting. Use Christmas cards as place cards so everyone can receive a personal Christmas wish from you.

Some Exciting Rubber Stamping Ideas

Nowadays the experimentation with various materials for creative ideas is the norm and there is practically nothing that you can't use to add some uniqueness to your creation. Have you ever tried making innovative creations with rubber stamps? If not, then we shall give you a few rubber stamping ideas which will simply blow you away. With the use of your imagination and readily available materials the rubber stamping ideas can give you a kick.

Make Bookmarks

Bookmarks are everyone's favorite during childhood and some of you may have even treasured some. Making bookmarks is a stupendous rubber stamping idea. You can either gift it to someone or use it personally. You can use a rubber stamp with the person's name or a design or a motif. If you are considering presenting the bookmark to someone then keep the person's interest in mind which will help you choose the ideal rubber stamp.

You can use colors in your stamping work and if you have the required tools you can even emboss an image onto the stamp. Punch a hole in the center on the top of the card and thread a ribbon or a small piece of yarn and then tie it to secure the bookmark. You could even use a piece of leather or velvet which will add to its charm.

Make Cards

Another great idea that you can use is rubber stamping in cards. You can make your own birthday cards or cards for any special occasion Often you have bought cards from the stores to wish people but making your own cards with rubber stamping adds a personal touch and is appreciated the most. You could buy a stamp with designs or scenery and include a short note.

Another way of impressing people with rubber stamping cards is by stamping the name of the person whom you are sending the cards to on plain cards. Add a touch of novelty by sending pre-addressed and stamped envelopes and you will receive prompt replies.

Book Stamping

Try your creativity on a blank book that has a plain cover. Decorate the book with rubber stamps and present it to anyone who is fond of writing or sketching. You can try various methods like stamping the cover repeatedly with the same stamp or you can even use a combination of different stamps. You can add some special effects by adding embossing powder on the name to give a highlighting effect. You could even try dabbling with colored pencil or chalks. Be sure to attach a pen or a pencil with a pretty ribbon to make the complete package look pretty.

Rubber Stamping on Wrapping Paper

Try your hand at creating your own wrapping paper or gift bags. Use plain white paper or craft paper and decorate it accordingly. You can also involve your kids in this interesting work by allowing them to display their artistic skills with colored pencils, glitter, markers, stickers and several other items. Sometimes the work of these kids will leave you spellbound.

Fabric Rubber Stamping

You can add a little excitement to your own clothing by using fabric paints. You can use these fabric rubber stamping ideas on any household item including your napkins, place mats and runners. Sometimes you can gift these place mats to your guests also.
